Arsenal will hope that both William Saliba and Myles Lewis-Skelly are suitable for today’s trip to Wolves in the Premier League.
Saliba has missed Arsenal’s last two games with a hamstring injury, while Lewis-Skelly was absent for Wednesday’s Champions League win over Dinamo Zagreb with a knee problem.
However, Mikel Arteta confirmed on Friday morning that neither injury is serious and both players could even make the squad for Saturday’s game at Molineux.
“There’s nothing serious on the scan with Myles,” said the Arsenal boss. “So there will be a question of hosting a meeting with the medical staff today. We have a training session. Whether it’s too early or not [we don’t know].
“And it’s something similar with Willy. I think they’ll definitely be there for next week. This week we’ll see how it works. “
With Saliba out of action, Arteta faces a selection dilemma over who to play alongside Gabriel at centre-back. Jurrien Timber was deployed there against Aston Villa last weekend, but it was Jakub Kiwior who got the nod in the Champions League.
Arteta is light on options in attack, but both Ethan Nwaneri and Leandro Trossard will start on the bench after the good week.
Ben White, out of action since November following knee surgery, is doing well in his recovery but is not quite fit to return this weekend. Takehiro Tomiyasu is still out, along with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
“He hasn’t trained with the team yet but I think he’s very close,” said Arteta on White. “He’s got a few more boxes to tick in the next two or three days. If everything goes well and smoothly, he will be with us pretty soon. “
